Nala and Ice 2 Read online

“Say if ya real like me throw ya hoods in da air so da whole wide world can see. Last of the dying breed, last of a dying breed, last of a dying breed.” (Young Jeezy)

I was riding through the blocks checking on shit and making sure niggas had Ice’s bread stacked to the ceiling. He been slipping lately, so I had his back to make sure shit was in order. I know if I was in the same predicament, he would definitely come through for me. I hated he was going through this bullshit with Nala, the baby, and now Qua was a part of the drama.

I told him to watch Qua, because now she going around saying she was pregnant. I know Ice never slipped up when it came to a bitch like her, so he better fix it. I was in his position before when I first got with Lia. I had two bitches pregnant at the same time and keeping them was not an option. I just couldn’t see myself with kids at that moment. I fell in love with Lia and promised I would never do no shit like that again.

I pulled up on the block, parked, and got out.

“Paul. You getting old nigga.” One of the youngest niggas on the block was always talking shit. He was fifteen and was out handling business for Ice none stop.

“Shut the fuck up. Did you go to school today?”

“Yea, man. Ice not about to drop my ass.” I laughed, because that’s something we never played about. Education was first and bullshit later. We couldn’t have no dumb niggas out in the streets tryna sell dope, but couldn’t count if we needed them to.

“Who got the package?” I asked him while we walked to the crib where everything was at. He was the Lieutenant of the block and kept his eyes and ears to the streets.

“All the money is there because I counted, but that’s not the problem. You know we got the whole city on lock, and if you not selling under Ice, then you can’t sell at all right?”

  “Right?” I agreed with him.

“A couple niggas trying to branch away and make moves on their own. I know they didn’t run it by yall yet, because they been on some sneaky shit.” This news peaked my interest.

“If they branch on their own, we will still find out. We’re not keeping no niggas hostage. If they wanna leave, they can go, but the days of them selling drugs will be gone forever.”

“I just wanted to run it by you first so you wouldn’t think I was on some sneaky shit. Check TY and Flip out.” Once he gave me the names, I went to see what was up.

“Good looking out, my nigga.” We both walked to the crib and I knocked five times. The only way you can get in is if you knock seven times. I liked to test niggas and see if they were paying attention to shit like that.

Just like I thought, the fucking door came open.

“Niggas forgot the code and when to open the door?” I asked TY, and he was shocked to see me. I guess he was expecting Ice, but not today.

“Naw, man. I knew it was you because I saw yo car parked outside.” That was the first mistake that got niggas killed. Always assuming shit instead of checking for facts.

“That’s five hundred deducted from your pay.” He gave me the side-eye, but knew not to say shit. My lil homie gave me the money, and I was going to leave until Flip stopped me.

“Paul, I gotta talk to you.” I smiled, because this is his time to come clean.

“TY and I….” I cut his ass right off.

“Don’t hold TY dick. You said you need to talk to me, so tell me what you want.” Soft ass nigga speaking for somebody else.

“Well, I’m thinking about leaving and doing my own thang.”

“No problem. Leave.” I knew he had more to say so I waited.

“I’m thinking about starting something up on my own.” I laughed at his ass.

“Do you really think Ice and I are going to let you move weight on his territory? You gotta be the dumbest niggas smoking bullshit.”

“Paul, we barely making it out here. You and Ice are eating good, and we out here struggling. We putting in more work than yall, and shit still not good enough. Come on, man.” I rubbed my nose to keep from knocking his ass right out. To say he just disrespected me was an understatement.

“Flip, what makes you think we gone let you eat on our shit? When we brought you on our team what did you have?”

  He paused before speaking.

  “Nothing.”

“Ice and I put you in a nice crib and now you got a car. You get paid five thousand every two weeks, so what you do with it is up to you. For you to even fix yo mouth and say yall doing all the work is an insult. You gotta put in work to be where you wanna be. You wouldn’t even be able to walk in our shoes if we let you borrow them bitches for a second. Humble yaself lil nigga, or you gone see the other side.” I turned to leave to give him the benefit of the doubt.

“Fuck this shit man, I’m out.” As soon as he walked past us, my lil nigga put a slug in his shit.

  POW!

“Paul you slipping. The first disrespect was a violation. The second disrespect will cause you to meet ya maker.” I smiled at what we created. I gave TY that look, and he had finished bagging the drugs up. I guess he got the point that it was our way or no way.

“Nice work. I got something for you later so be on standby.” I got inside my car and drove over to Ice’s crib. He been busy with the baby lately so I been helping him out with practically everything. He was new to being a dad, but he was learning.

“What’s up bro?” I said when I walked inside his crib.

“Shit. Kamya cried all night, and I almost killed myself.” I broke out laughing because he was serious. I guess she was cool now, because she was on the floor crawling and playing.

“I picked ya package up and ran into a problem.”

  “What’s that?”

“Flip thought he was going to leave and start up his own shit.” Ice laughed just as I did when I first heard the news.

  “First violation.”

“First violation didn’t count; he met the second violation.” Ice didn’t question shit when it came to how I handled shit in his territory. He would do the same if a nigga tried to come at me sideways.

“Say no more. It’s handled; now on to the next.” I talked with him a little longer and walked out. I haven’t seen my baby Lia all day, so I couldn’t wait to put that ass to sleep.

  Chapter 3

  Nala

“Mason, all you have to do is help me fake Nala and Bleu’s death, and you’re a free man. You’ve been working for Jacque for years, and he never gave you the credit you deserve. The only reason he forced Nala to marry you was because of your family tree. You came from money, and he sees that as an opportunity. Soon, you will be just like Ice and everyone else that was on his team.” Alexis was trying to convince Mason to help her by faking our death.

That’s the only way we will be able to live a life without having to look over our shoulders. Of course, we would have to change our identity, but oh well. I just wanted out. Jacque found out Bleu and I were planning an escape with the rest of the women, and he wanted us to pay. Everyone already knew he was planning on killing us, so Alexis played along. She been next to Jacque acting as if she was on his team, but really wasn’t.

She asked Jacque to let Mason kill me, and she would kill Bleu. He didn’t hesitate and agreed. All this time I was so mad at her for thinking she turned on us, when she really didn’t.

“I don’t know, Alexis. I know Jacque is a snake, but what if he finds out? He will come for me and kill everyone in my family. I know I was wrong for marrying Nala, but I really did care for her.” I looked at his ass like he had two heads. He didn’t love me at all. He wanted to control me, but when he found out Jacque was all for himself, he reconsidered. This nigga was just like Jacque. Or at least he wanted to be.

“Mason, he don’t need you. Now that he got the power, he feels like everyone is beneath him. Believe me when I tell you, all of us are on his hit list. We were just pawns in his game, and now we're the puppets, doing everything he tells us. Is that how you want to live? Answer this question, then I’
m done.” Alexis paused for a minute, then continued.

“What father treats their own flesh and blood like shit? What father beats their daughter, then try to have her killed? All because he wants power. Nothing else matters to him, Mason. Neither do you.” Mason thought long and hard before responding.

“Ok cool. You got my help. What will happen to Jacque, though?”

“Jacque will be long gone to prison by the time he even thinks we’re on to him. He didn’t tell you he was spotted trying to sneak more women over here from Belize. They are building a big case against him. If you continue to help him, you will also go down.” Alexis was leaving no stone unturned and had his full attention.

“I heard about it, but he denied everything. Once I help you, I need you to help me get him to the Feds sooner.” Mason was concocting his own plans to have Jacque sent away for life.

“I got you. Let’s get started.” Alexis had everything already set up.

“You two will go with Mason and hide in his trunk. Once he crosses into the United States, you are free. Jacque will expect for Mason to take you to the Barn where he dumps all his bodies. By the time he get there to confirm your death, we all will be long gone, and he will be in jail.”

“That’s it.” Bleu asked, because I was a little skeptical of the plan as well.

“What if he come sooner and realize we’re not there?”

“He won’t because that’s where Mason and I come in. We will keep his head somewhere else for now. I’m about to bring a lot of drama his way, so he won’t even be thinking about you two. Get some rest, because you will be riding in the trunk for a couple hours before you can get out. Don’t worry. Air holes are everywhere.” I just prayed this trip will be successful, and we get our freedom.

  *****

The next day, Alexis and Mason walked us to the car. Jacque had his men watching, but they were too damn slow to report anything suspicious. Once we got in the trunk, I suddenly felt sick. They had our hands, feet, and mouths taped to make it look like they were taking us away for good.

I rubbed against Bleu to let her know we were in this shit together. Jacque planned on visiting the dumping grounds later, but Alexis would stop that. I started thinking about the people my daughter was with. All I had to do was go to Chicago because she was there. Alexis gave me the address, so I was hoping she’d still be there. It was best for her at the moment. Jacque planned on killing her as well. He even wanted his two sons by Bleu killed.

Luckily, Alexis had a friend willing to keep them until we got to the United States. I thought about Ice as well. I know that, if he was still alive, he would have come for me. Many nights, I cried because life wasn’t fair. I was born into a life of pure evil. Jacque is only worried about the Toussaint Cartel. I kept asking myself why he waited all those years to turn against me. Why didn’t he do all of this before? Once I get my daughter back, which will take a little minute, because I signed my rights over, I promise to be the best mother ever.

Alexis paid the white family millions to go along with the plan. I just want to move forward, so Kamya and I can live a happy life. We rode for hours, and eventually, I fell asleep.

“Hey. Get up. Let’s go now.” Mason woke us up, and we climbed out the trunk. The fresh air was much-needed right now. I rubbed my eyes and looked around. He passed me a bag, and a piece of paper.

“That paper is all the information you need when you make it. The guy will give you some cash and you two can go from there. Go by the names on the paper for now and never use your real name when you’re out in public. The cab will take you to the airport, and that’s it.” He motioned for us to get in the cab, and Bleu and I were so happy. It’s like everything we dreamed of in the last year was actually coming true.

“Time to go get our kids and move forward.” Bleu said to me, and we hugged each other once the cab pulled off. I didn’t even say goodbye to Mason, because he was still a part of everything that went down.

After the long plane ride to Chicago, we both were exhausted. I wanted to go get my baby girl, but I needed some rest and to get myself together. We went to Mason’s friend’s house, and he gave us five thousand dollars apiece.

“What the fuck can we do with this?” I said to Bleu.

“Shit, we really gotta work a miracle because this will get us nowhere.”

“Don’t worry. We just have to get a real job now, and do what we have to do. Can’t sit around and struggle.” Bleu and I never really had a real job, so a nine to five seemed hard to get. What I won’t do, is be a weak bitch and not have no money in my pocket.

We got us a hotel room for a couple days to get settled and to get familiar with Chicago. We been here before with Ice, but that didn’t last long. As soon as I hit the shower and washed everything away that had to do with Bogota, I felt refreshed. I hit the sheets after, and soon, sleep came for the rest of the night.

I woke up the next morning, and we got right down to business. Bleu went to get her kids, and I did the same. We both caught the bus to save money, and I made it to the house in an hour. I was so nervous, I didn’t even knock right away. I kept thinking they would bash me, or even say I can’t get her back. Just as I was about to knock, the door opened.

“Can I help you?” I was face to face with a young woman who looked like she just woke up. She had her hair wrapped in a scarf, and I could tell she still had makeup on from the night before. I was confused because Alexis said this was a white family.

“UUMMM. Yes, I think my daughter Kamya is here. I’m Nala.” When I said my name, she looked at me like she had seen a ghost. She stepped back inside the house and slammed the door. I rang the bell again, and this time when the door opened, I stumbled back and fell down the stairs.

“NALA. WHAT THE FUCK? HOW THE FUCK?” There stood my knight and shining armor. The man who stole my heart and left me stuck when he got shot up. Ice is supposed to be dead. We just stared off into each other’s eyes and couldn’t say a word. I grabbed my face with my hand and started crying. I couldn’t believe he was standing in front of me in the flesh. He began to walk towards me, and when he leaned down to help me up, a bomb was thrown my way.

“Babe, can you please come inside. This baby is giving me morning sickness, and I need you to rub my stomach.” The female came back to the door, and she had a smirk on her face, while rubbing her stomach. Ice looked back at me, and I yanked away from him.

He moved on without me. He didn’t even wait for me.

“Nala, please. I’m sorry.” The tears rolled down so fast, I could barely see.

“Ice, where is my baby so I can go.” Ice rubbed his face, went to get Kamya, and I walked away with my head down.

  Chapter 4

  Ice

“Nala, wait man. Come here.” I ran after her because I couldn’t let her get away. I had so many questions, I didn’t know where to begin. I couldn’t believe she was here, at my front door.

“No, Ice. How could you do this to me? All this time I thought you were dead, and you were shacked up with Ms. Wanna be Barbie.” Nala was crying so bad, I felt like shit.

“I been looking for you, Nala. I couldn’t just come and get you because then both of us would have been killed. I never stopped looking for you, and thanks to Alexis, she gave me hope.” I tried to grab her arm, but she pulled away from me again.

“Ice, it’s only been a little over a year, and you moved on. You got a nice little family started and said fuck me. I’m not mad at you, though. I just wish you nothing but the best. Kamya and I will be ok.”

“Just stay and talk to me please. I’m sorry. I don’t love her ass. As far as her being pregnant, it might not be mines.” I wanted to get on my knees and beg her, but she was walking away making it hard to plead my case.

“Ice, you know I will never compete with another bitch. It is what it is. As far as Kamya, I will call you and we can set up arrangements for you to get her.” Nala was serious as a heart attack. She was hurting, and I was the
cause of it.

“What about your husband? You went and married him and said fuck me.”

“Ice, are you fucking serious right now? I was forced to married that nigga, and if I didn’t, I would be dead right now. As a matter of fact, I’m supposed to be dead as we speak. Alexis and Mason helped Bleu and I to escape, and this is what I come back to. Although I thought you were dead, I still yearned for you, Ice.” I pulled her in for a hug, and she broke down in my arms.

“I know I fucked up, but I never stopped loving you, Nala. I never gave up on us. Yes, I needed some attention to keep my mind off the negative shit, but I’m crazy about you. She don’t mean shit to me.”

“I wish I can believe you, but you two look happy. She is pregnant, and I know there will never be a me and you again. I just can’t Ice.” She let go of me, and her and Kamya walked and got on the bus. I felt like my heart was ripped out my chest. I been looking for Nala for over a year now, and when she finally comes back to me, this happens.

I turned to go back in the house, and when I walked inside, Qua was sitting on the couch smoking a blunt.

“Get the fuck out now. I’m not about to do this shit with you. Call me when the baby get here so we can do a DNA test. You been fucking all these other niggas, why you ain’t harassing them?” She laughed while still sitting on the couch like I wasn’t talking to her. I usually don’t do shit like this, but I snapped.

“Get the fuck out yo.” I grabbed her legs, drug her ass to the front door, and threw her out. She scratched my arms up, and even tried to bite my leg.

“You ain’t shit Ice. I did a lot for you, and you drop me the first time this bitch pop back up. She got a husband and you still don’t care.” I shut the door on her and went to pour me a glass of Remy. My mind was really fucked up.

  *****

Two weeks later, and I had yet to hear or see Nala and my daughter. I been looking high and low for her, but got nothing. Qua been getting on my fucking nerves, and now I can’t get rid of her. I know for a fact that baby ain’t mine, because I used a condom every time with her.
